There is no such thing as rank in the Fiverr search results, therefore, there is no such thing as “de-ranking”. Your gig location will fluctuate in the results – automatically – based upon success and competition.
Fiverr is not intentionally doing anything to hurt you or your success. No seller is entitled to have their gig show up in a prominent place, just because they want that visibility. Everyone is competing equally within the marketplace. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. That’s just how the algorithm work.
There are various reasons for deranking some of them are mentioned below;
- Mostly offline
- Not earning on Fiverr
- Not submitting buyer request
- Negative rating
- Order cancellation
- Order completion rate below 90%
- Positive ratings below 4.810
- Not doing SEO of your gigs
There are many likely contributing factors to a Fiverr account/gig being de-ranked. I’ll try to keep this as detailed as I possibly can.
• Fiverr Algorithm
I know it can be a real pain in the butt to see your gigs on which you’ve built high expectations and dreams suddenly go low in search rankings and thus, less exposure to potential clients. I’ve been there too.
However, this could be due to Fiverr’s frequent algorithm changes which tend to shuffle gigs in search results in order to give opportunities to lesser ranking gigs.
It usually happens to new sellers after a couple or three orders have been delivered. Their gigs tend to get lesser impressions and clicks afterwards.
When this happens, you shouldn’t give up or lose hope instead, you put in the effort and work to try and bring in a few buyers off of Fiverr, get orders via buyer requests, and/or convert some of your existing One-Time Buyers into Repeat Buyers by upselling them with some quality services that might help them. It would help if you were a broad thinker in order to pull this off successfully.
When the algorithm picks up your consistency despite the hard blow you’ve been dealt, your gig should gradually start finding it’s way up the ladder once again. The duration is gonna vary from person to person.
• Negative Reviews and/or Post-Delivery Private Feedback
One of the factors that contribute to a Fiverr account being de-ranked is a negative review from a buyer. Quite a number of times, I’ve seen sellers who mess up their accounts with silly mistakes on their part.
Scenario #1 Fiverr de-rank gigs
A seller who’s too desperate to get an order might force an unfamiliar project on himself, promising the buyer Heaven and Earth, and to make matters worse, for a meagre amount that won’t get the job well done.
In the end, the buyer either cancels the order and reports to Fiverr directly (which makes matters worse), or leaves a negative review after the project is delivered to him. Any of these actions can permanently damage a Fiverr seller account.
Scenario #2 Fiverr de-rank gigs
A seller with poor communication skills or bad bidding might piss a buyer off, thus, forcing him to leave a negative review. In my earlier days on Fiverr, I made a couple of mistakes and learnt my lessons the hard way.
If you come across an annoying buyer, try to control yourself and be the gentle and calm one. Under no circumstances should you try to heat things up because that automatically leaves you on the losing end.
Don’t use vulgar or offensive words with buyers and keep your communication as professional as you possibly can. I need you to understand that if the buyer doesn’t report any of your chats and decided to put up with you as well, Fiverr not might pick it up against itself later and you might be struck with a warning.
Scenario #3 -Fiverr de-rank gigs
Post-Delivery Private Feedback is the other cause. I have used other people’s services a few times on Fiverr and that was how I got to know about the Post-Delivery Private Feedback that’s shown to a buyer a few days after an order has been delivered to them.
It’s more like a survey asking questions regarding the recently delivered order with options to select your satisfaction level.
This plays a big role in determining a seller’s journey on Fiverr in terms of search engine rank and recommendations in their email digests to buyers.
Fake Reviews
I have seen a lot of people who are just getting started on Fiverr sabotage the journey long before it even started with their desperation by using obviously evident fake reviews to try and boost their accounts.
Don’t get me wrong. Fiverr encourages that you share your gigs with families and friends who might need your services to help you get started. However, where a lot of people go wrong lies in the fact that go ahead and buy reviews off the internet from some random person.
I’d like to expand this for your understanding;
You see, most of the people who sell these reviews simply proceed to place orders, with no form of communication with the seller, and when the order is delivered, they simply leave reviews and they’re gone.
Seriously?!
Did you think Fiverr’s team is made of dummies? NO!
They’ll easily see through the fake reviews.
It’s like you meeting a pretty lady, having no conversation with her whatever, and then expecting to be married to her the following day.
Real buyers who haven’t heard about you before usually go through any of the following processes:
- Fiverr Search →Clicks your gig →Contact →Chat to ensure you’re the right person for them →Place direct order or ask for a custom offer →More conversations on the order page every time you provide them with an update →Delivery →Review →Post-Delivery Private Feedback
- Fiverr Search →Clicks on your gig →Order directly →Provides requirements →(You need to tryna force a conversation if the buyer isn’t much of a talker) Provide updates with each step, and ask for their view. That way it doesn’t seem like it was a bot or pre-planned →Delivery →Review →Post-Delivery Private Feedback →(Try to keep engaging them via FREE services or upsells or ask how you can make the recently delivered project better.)
This is long enough and I wouldn’t want to make it any longer. You can try getting yourself familiarized with Fiverr’s TOS to understand more.
Bottom Line – Don’t give up after a few ups and downs, consistency and perseverance do pay in the long run.
Avoid/Reduce:
- Warning strikes
- Order Cancellations (sometimes, they are inevitable but it can be limited to just a few)
- Being a bad communicator
- Fake Reviews (Send professional offers to buyer requests more instead.)
- Being desperate for orders so much that you take just any order for just any amount.
- Don’t ever try to cheat a buyer with poor service delivery.
Hi there, here are some tips I was used to getting my gigs noticed by buyers when it searches, just follow these tips and apply these steps.
1- you need to be online:
2-install chrome extension like live Smart auto-refresh or Easy auto-refresh
3-share your gigs on social media :
4-update gig tags and keywords from time to time.
5-last but not the least fast delivery:
When you receive your first order, it’s highly recommended to focus on delivery time and make try harder to deliver your order in less than 24hrs that could help you increase gigs’ engagement and impression.
Finally, good luck with freelancing ……
